ΘΧ Basics

HistoryThese two icons address our Fraternity's basic history:

Values.  You are expected to know and have memorized these four ΘΧ basics.  The Motto in Greek is Θηρόποεα Χείρ, pronounced the-ruh-poo-sah ky-air, and is also translated "Helping Hand."

Fraternity Colors.  Military red (as in the American flag) and white

Fraternity Flower.  Red carnation

Official Magazine
The Rattle of Theta Chi is published twice a year in summer and winter.  Click the icon to read the latest issue.

Coat of ArmsSometimes it's mistakenly called a "badge, patch, shield, emblem or crest" (the crest is actually the eagle on top).  The serpent will tell you about it in the 6th paragraph of its link.

Anthem of Theta Chi.  It is to Thee, Dear Old Theta Chi

Flags & BannersBoth reflect the design shown (border, date, letters, coiled rattlesnake) except that banners are proportionately smaller than the 6x9 foot (9 inch border) or 4x6 foot flag.

Chapter Names.  Chapters are assigned Greek letters in alphabetical rotation at time of installation, being prefixed by Alpha, etc., as the alphabet is completely used.  Double letters like ΔΔ are not used.

Hazing.  Contrary to the humorous photo at the "R" link below, hazing is prohibited and has not been practiced in ΘΧ for many years.

Pledge Guidebook.  The new August 2017 booklet explains The Resolute Journey to be used for New Member education starting in 2018.  Click the cover and all knowledge therein will be revealed to you.

Legacy.  Legacies are sons, grandsons, nephews, or brothers of Theta Chi members; they are normally given a bid.

Good of the Fraternity.  Each chapter meeting ends with “Good of the Fraternity,” which is an opportunity to end the chapter meeting on a positive note by sharing the encouraging and uplifting stories of how the Fraternity has assisted its individual members and how brothers individually have assisted the Fraternity.
